Coach Searcy has been part of the Dashers Track program ever since its induction into the Ozark Association in 1984. His father, Bernard Searcy and Aunt, Joyce Blount, joined forces with the Illinois Track and Field Hall of Fame Coach John E. Davis.
Being a 6-Time USATF/TAC National Champion, 3-Time AAU National Champion, National Record holder, IHSA All-State Hurdler and Sprinter, Coach Searcy brings experience along with a USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification.
Searcy is the former President, Youth Chair, and Executive Board Member of USATF Ozark. He’s a Master Level Official within USATF as well. Coach Searcy is part of a group responsible for organizing several successful National Championship Track and Eld meets across the country. In 2011, David was one of the integral components of the USATF National Youth Outdoor Championship held at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. Coach Searcy was also part of a World Record setting Long Jump Crew in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2012. In 2017, Searcy and the Dashers Track and Sports Organization were the driving force behind the USATF National Junior Olympic Championship in Lawrence, Kansas.
David is the current Girls Head Coach of the Belleville West Lady Maroons track and field team since 2020. Accomplishing Conference Runner-up, St. Clair County Championships, and IHSA 3A Sectional Championship. He annually has IHSA State Qualifiers in multiple events. He has coached several All-State individual events as well as relays. On the Middle School level, Searcy has coached numerous State Champions within IESA and SIJHSAA in the State of Illinois.
Off the track, Coach Searcy was an outstanding American Football player. In high school, he was a Blue-Chip All-American as a Quarterback and Receiver. He had several Division 1 offers coming out of high school. He was on a IHSA 6A State Champion team in 1991. After high school, he attended Western Illinois University for a year before being in what seemed a career-ending car accident. Searcy later returned to sports earning All-American accolades in football and track and field. Coach Searcy begin his professional journey to the NFL in 1998. It was short lived by a nagging injury incurred from playing in the Arena League Chicago Rush.
Returning to the Metro-east area in 2000, David began coaching where it all started, the Dashers Track Club. In 2002, Coach David Searcy took over the reigns as President and Head Coach of the now, Dashers Track and Sports Organization. He has continued the long tradition of National Champions, All-Americans, and National Qualifiers. Annually sending athletes to many colleges and universities, Coach Searcy has an extensive network of resources for students with aspirations of continuing post-high school athletics. In 2017 and 2019, USATF named Coach Searcy Ozark USATF Official of the Year.
