Demarquo Sanders is a well rounded and goal-driven Coach. Growing up in the City of East St. Louis, he quickly learned how to adapt and survive with minimum resources. Experiencing personal struggles, family issues, and poverty limitations, he needed something to help him endure. He turned to sports early in his career and became known as one of the best athletes of his era. He was a part of East St Louis’ State Championship Football team in 2008. His talents and work ethic on the field earned a spot on the football team at Arkansas Baptist. With life’s twist and turns, Sanders began focusing on another prize. He later channeled those on the field energies into making a difference in the lives of others with a similar background as he had. He became a devoted follower of Christ and found a new emphasis in living life. He helped found a youth mentoring organization called Saving the Next Generation. Through this organization, Demarquo has taken in many young underprivileged to mold and motivate, to help stimulate their progress for change. Demarquo is simply a beacon of change and positivity.
In 2024, Demarquo has joined forces with the Dashers Track Club, becoming one of the Nations “Coaches to look out for”. He’s done an outstanding job with learning our workout plans, developing race models, as well as help with daily organizational duties. He’s partially responsible for over 30 USATF Junior Olympic Qualifiers! ‘He understands what it takes to be a Champion, and that’s something that you can’t teach!” Head Coach says about Sanders.
His story, his life, his example will forever be evidence that with Christ, overcoming anything is not only possible, but a sustained way of living. His favorite thing to say is “Everyone has something Great within them! Pulling it out of them to show the world is even Greater!”
